디지털 회로를 통과한 기억의 물성
영상 작업 <기억하는 회로>에서 파생된 이 프린트 연작은, 흐르는 시간 속 특정 프레임을 캡처하여 '기억의 파편'을 채집하는 행위에서 출발한다. 사진 속 숲의 풍경이 거친 붓터치나 빠른 속도감으로 뭉개진 듯한 모습은 뇌리에 스치듯 지나가는 불완전한 잔상을 닮아 있으며, 수면에 비쳐 잘게 부서지고 일렁이는 숲의 이미지는 끊임없이 왜곡되고 재구성되는 기억의 유동적 속성을 시각적으로 대변한다. 반면, 깊은 균열을 품고 차갑게 굳어 있는 암석의 질감은 오랜 시간 침전되어 변치 않는 근원적이고 단단한 기억의 메타포로 작용한다.
이렇게 채집된 일상의 풍경들은 마치 정교한 3D 데이터나 와이어프레임처럼 분해되고 얽혀 있는 추상적인 이미지에서 엿볼 수 있듯, 디지털 프로세싱이라는 현대적 연금술을 거치며 전혀 새로운 미학적 층위로 진입한다. 여기서 중요한 점은 가상의 공간을 부유하던 이 디지털 데이터들이 최종적으로 '프린트'라는 물리적 매체를 통해 인화지 위의 잉크로 물질화된다는 것이다. 일시적인 가상의 신호가 만질 수 있는 실체로 귀환함으로써, 관객은 멈춰 서서 화면의 낯설고 섬세한 질감과 색채를 찬찬히 음미하게 된다.
결과적으로 이 작업은 스틸 추출, 디지털 변용, 물리적 인화라는 다단계의 '회로'를 거치며 기억과 자연, 그리고 기술이 교차하는 지점을 깊이 있게 탐색한다. 작가는 익숙한 자연의 파편들을 생경한 아름다움으로 재맥락화함으로써 기억의 창조적인 유동성을 증명하는 동시에, 동시대의 기술 매체가 우리의 지각과 감성을 어떻게 새롭게 직조해 내는가에 대한 성찰을 이끌어낸다.

Project Description: Remembering Circuit (Print Series) Exhibited at 18-1 Gallery, this print series originates from still frames of the video work Remembering Circuit, reimagining the temporal flow of film through the lens of digital alchemy. By extracting and re-processing these moments, the artist translates fleeting digital data into a tangible, physical medium, granting permanence to the transient nature of memory. The work explores the "circuit" where nature, technology, and human perception intersect. Blurred forest movements and the dense textures of rock serve as visual metaphors for the fluid yet enduring qualities of memory. Through this metamorphosis from video to large-scale print, familiar landscapes are transfigured into realms of "uncanny beauty," inviting viewers to reflect on how digital mediation reconfigures our sensory experience and the creative reconstruction of our past.
